What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Most patients visit the orthodontist because of one or more visibly misaligned teeth or because their general or pediatric dentist recommended they do so. It is not uncommon for some patients to be a little confused as to why they were referred to an Orthodontic Specialist. What is exactly is an Orthodontic Specialist?
An Orthodontist is a specialist who has attended and successfully completed dental school, and has also completed two or more years of specialty training in an accredited orthodontic program. Only after completion of this program is one able to classify themselves as an "orthodontist". Orthodontists are not only experts in making your smile look great, but they also ensure that your jaws and bite are in proper alignment for optimum function and long term dental health.
After a comprehensive examination of your teeth, jaws, bite and smile, Dr. Meng will formulate a treatment plan specifically for your condition. Since orthodontic treatment is highly individualized, as no two mouths are exactly the same, he will most likely present several different options for treatment. For this reason, it is always a good idea that anyone involved in the decision making process for treatment be present at the initial visit. The consultation appointment for treatment is approximately 45 minutes in length, and some orthodontic imaging may be required to properly diagnose your condition.
Once Dr. Meng has presented all treament options to you, one of our friendly team members will go over any insurance benefits available to you and also explain how our interest-free payment plan is affordable and convenient. Please call our office today to schedule a complimentary evaluation with Dr. Meng!
